Domain Road Vineyard is a boutique, family-owned estate nestled in the heart of Bannockburn, one of New Zealand’s most renowned wine regions. Owned by Graeme and Gillian Crosbie, whose ties to the area go back generations, the vineyard was established in 2002 on a former apricot orchard. Their passion for the land and fascination with wine led them to plant Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, and Riesling, later expanding in 2011 with additional vines including Chardonnay and Pinot Gris and a second vineyard of 10 hectares adjacent to Felton Road.

Surrounded by dramatic goldfields and mountain landscapes, the vineyard thrives in hot summers and crisp autumns, ideal for crafting cool-climate wines. With a focus on quality and traditional techniques, Domain Road produces award-winning wines now enjoyed across New Zealand and internationally. Their commitment to excellence reflects a deep connection to Bannockburn’s rich history and unique terroir.

The Riesling grapes were cultivated across two estate vineyards - Domain Road and Defiance Vineyard - both situated in Bannockburn, but both possessing different soil types and terroirs, which added to the complexity of the wine. Grapes were hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, and the fruit underwent whole-bunch pressing, after which the clarified juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks under controlled, cool temperatures Fermentation was closely monitored and halted at the desired point to achieve a dry style with a hint of residual sugar for balance. Post-fermentation, the wine rested on its lees for a period to enhance mouthfeel and complexity before bottling.
