Sorrell Churton Pinot Noir 2023

Sorrell Wines is a boutique Marlborough label founded by Daniel Sorrell in 2021, after a decade working vintages across France, the US, Australia, and New Zealand.
Dan’s focus is on organic, single-vineyard wines - Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir - from some of Marlborough’s most expressive sub-regions. These are thoughtful, finely tuned wines made in small batches, with a clear respect for both the land and the people farming it.

He believes terroir and exceptional viticulture are crucial to the craft of winemaking, and he’s chosen to work with what he regards as “exceptional vineyards” and growers in Auntsfield, The Wrekin, and Churton - each with very individual characteristics, which he strives to reflect in the wines. “I want to showcase the vineyards and fruit purity” he says, “connecting the wine back to the land it came from”.

The grapes were 100% handpicked from 'Churton' vineyard and gravity fed into open top fermenters with 20% whole bunch inclusion. The skins were gently pumped over or punched down every other. The total time on skins was 28 days before being gently pressed and drained into old French oak where the wine aged for 16 months.
