Loveblock Awatere Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Loveblock Wines, founded by Erica and Kim Crawford, is a flag bearer for organic, and sustainable winemaking in New Zealand, and for being responsible for the health of the land and community for future generations.

It’s an approach which the owners are passionate about, and which extends to their winemaking philosophy too. They make ‘clean, true wines’, which reflect balance, finesse, and a sense of place without excessive manipulation.

As a result, Loveblock’s wines tend to be softer, more elegant, and subtle, setting them apart from many of their regional counterparts. And for Erica and Kim, this is a creative journey too, making wines without the pressures of conformity. For them, it’s never a sacrifice on wine quality – it’s an exploration of taste.

A mix of hand- and machine-harvested grapes, with the hand-picked portion fermented separately in amphora, concrete egg, and old oak using wild yeast. About half went through malolactic fermentation, softening the wine’s edges while keeping its bright character.
