Dog Point Pinot Noir 2021
A brightly perfumed and succulent wine with red cherry, brown spices and silky fine tannins. This wine has all the makings of a long lived Marlborough Pinot Noir and matches perfectly with duck, red meats (particularly venison and lamb), and mushroom dishes.
The grapes came from the Estate’s 40 year old vines planted on clay loam soils, and farmed organically. All harvesting was carried out by hand. The grapes were chilled overnight and then hand sorted, with 30% whole bunches included. Fermentation took place over three weeks in small stainless steel open-top fermenters using indigenous yeasts. The wine was pressed into French oak barrels (30% new) for 18 months ageing. The wine was bottled without fining and with minimal filtration.
