Tastes of Organic

Tastes of Organic

FROMM’s vineyards are planted in alluvial gravel soils with layers of clay and silt, providing excellent drainage and promoting deep root growth. Clay elements retain moisture, adding structure and complexity to the wines, particularly in Pinot Noir and Syrah.

FROMM is certified organic (BioGro NZ) and follows dry-farming principles, meaning no irrigation is used for 60% of the vineyards, encouraging the vines to develop deep roots and extract unique mineral qualities from the soil. They estimate it saves 9.5 million litres of water each year, plus the energy required to pump it.

Grapes are hand-harvested, and no synthetic chemicals or fertilisers are used,
This combination of climate, diverse soils, and organic practices results in elegant, structured wines with a strong sense of place, making FROMM one of Marlborough’s most distinctive boutique wineries.

“Our winemaking philosophy is very simple – we think of ourselves as guiding the wines into the bottle, not making the wines. We feel that to make great wines, we need to start with organically grown grapes.”
